On Sunday March 11, 2007 a brush fire damaged 10 homes at The Village Place community in Loganville. Four homes on Village View Circle were totally destroyed; six others sustained extensive siding and wall damage.
Meridian Homes USA, Inc., the original builder of those homes was chosen to rebuild the four that were totally destroyed. Upon hearing of the loss Meridian sent department store gift cards to those affected by the fire so that they would not have to worry about purchasing essentials. Meridian also contacted the insurance companies and offered their services in rebuilding the homes. "We don't normally do this type of work, however Loganville is our hometown, and most of our employees grew up here or have moved here. We felt this is the right thing for us to do for the community" stated Darrell McWaters, President. "Meridian has the original plans as well as the capacity to complete the project quickly and efficiently "continued McWaters.
Meridian rebuilt the four houses in 60 days, culminating with a "Welcome Home" event for all residents of Village Place on May 24, 2007.
