Meridian Homes, based in Loganville, Georgia, is spreading the word on two more reasons to buy a new home now. First, the government has announced the end of Down Payment Assistance. This means buyers that could get up to 3% of the purchase price of a new home credited at the time of closing will no longer be able to do so as of October 1, 2008. Second, the government announced that many first time homebuyers will be eligible for a $7,500 tax credit. This program will help many taxpayers offset their annual tax bill. 

With the addition of the tax program and the cancellation of the down payment program buyers have a huge incentive to move forward with the purchase of a new home now. Interest rates are low, prices are low, builder incentives are available, down payment assistance is available and a tax credit may be available. This has to be one of the best times in history to purchase a new home.
