New Housing Bill
How it affects you
July 30, 2008 President Bush signed a new housing reform bill to aid homebuyers and attempt to stabilize the nations housing market. The signing of this bill makes NOW the best opportunity to purchase a Ready Now Meridian Home. Some provisions of this bill are temporary, and some programs have come to a mandated end. Here are the reasons NOW may be the best time to purchase your new home:
Tax Credit For First Time Home Buyers
If you are buying a home for the first time, or have not owned a home for 3 years ( years 2006, 2007, or 2008) you may qualify for up to $7,500 in tax credit for the purchase of a new home. This credit can be applied to the year in which you close your home and is subject to income limitations. Down Payment Assistance Ended Oct 1, 2008
For now, the Down Payment Assistance Program (DPA) that allowed builders to contribute up to 3% in funds towards the buyer's down payment is gone. There are other local programs that exist that allow for down payment help through grants and incentives, and there are some areas that qualify for 100% financing. Buyers can also use gifts from friends and relatives to help with down payments. |
